Student Identity and Preparation for Education (FE & HE). This presentation draws on research that shows that children from military service families are around one third less likely to go to university than the general population. During today’s 18 year olds’ education their parents have been involved in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Libya. This, combined with known differences in patterns of mobility and deployment between branches of the services, indicate the diversity of experience of being a service child. This presentation will explore research findings from the education experiences of service children.
