Abstract
In 2012 the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) started peace negotiations. Four years later, the parties signed a peace agreement. In October 2016, the peace agreement was rejected by just 50.000 votes in a Referendum. The parties renegotiated the peace agreement, and a new accord was approved by Congress, opening the way for a rocky implementation. In 2018, a new government was elected with a mandate to “shred" the peace accord, as one of its proponents stated. During the last four years, due to pressure from civil society and the international community, there has been a fragmented implementation of the agreement's 578 stipulations. In May 2022, a new government is due to be elected. The electoral debate shows that reconciliation is a distant possibility, but nevertheless a horizon towards which Colombian can still mobilise. This paper is a provocation to think through the setbacks and achievements of peacebuilding, reconciliation, and non- violence in the last 10 years in Colombia.
