Abstract
An important council for the Orthodox world took place in the summer of 2016, in Crete, the first of its kind after several centuries.
This chapter uses some of the views of the most prominent living Orthodox theologian, Christos Yannaras, as an entry for a critical appraisal of that council, especially in relation of some of the most urgent problems in the Orthodox Church, which, in the author's view, the council failed to address.
