Abstract

Excavations at Meonstoke in 2016-17 have revealed an unusual and intriguing hexagonal building, close to the aisled building excavated in 1984-91. Hexagons are not common in the Roman world, and often have religious associations. The site is very close to the river Meon, and finds suggest worship of a river or spring deity.
