Abstract

William Wykeham was bishop of Winchester from 1366 to 1404. Winchester in the this period was the richest bishopric north of the Alps which had considerable financial resources to help his soul after death. This article explores these options and places them in the context of intercession for the soul in this period.
This chapter is the result of a paper presented at the University of Helsinki.
