N2 - A Guide Book 2 Dr Anke Jakob is a design researcher at Kingston University London with a professional background as a textile designer. Her current research explores multi sensory experiences facilitated through light, colour, material and digital means -and how these sensory forms of stimulation can be applied in the health and well-being sector, in particular for the benefit of people with cognitive disabilities. Dr Lesley Collier is a senior lecturer in occupational therapy at the University of Southampton. She is a HCPC registered occupational therapist working in the fields of neurology and dementia care, focusing particularly on sensory processing and stimulation in relation to people with dementia in order to improve occupational performance, mood and behaviour. She also has designed treatment protocols to assist with the delivery of this technique. Guide book background This guide is an outcome of the research project The Multi Sensory Environment (MSE) in dementia care: the role of design (2013-14) which is funded by the Arts & Humanities Research Council (AHRC). The collaborative project partner is Care UK, one of the largest social and health care providers in the UK.
